  • Pollutants

Area of Expertise:

Terri is a research scientist for the Marine Ecosystems and Aquaculture Division in DFO’s Pacific region. Her work focuses on potential interactions between aquaculture activities and natural ecosystem processes. Work carried out as part of the Strait of Georgia Ecosystem Research Initiative has been to characterize the resuspension and transport of nutrients and trace-element contaminants in the Strait of Georgia. Additionally, she studies shellfish development and ecosystem health in fjords and inlets (specifically in Baynes Sound) to ensure that they can support the shellfish industry.

Current (2019) research projects include:

  • Developing hard-bottom indicators from BC archived benthic video surveys associated with aquaculture activities
  • Baynes Sound shellfish carrying capacity assessment
  • Understanding the development of harmful algal blooms (HABS)
